Russian steel and pipe producer OMK has announced that its new foundry and rolling facility has produced 40,814 mt of rolled steel products in the first three months since its commissioning.

Having commenced operations in October 2008, OMK's new foundry and rolling facility has up to now delivered 20,416 mt of high quality rolled steel products to the electro-welded workshops of Vyksa Steel Works and to Almetyevsk Pipe Plant.

According to OMK's production plan, in 2009 the new facility is to output one million mt of rolled steel products, for which the company has already concluded sale agreements.

The production capacity of the first phase of the new facility is 1.5 million mt of hot rolled coils a year, which is planned to be increased later to three million mt. OMK's new foundry and rolling facility is expected to fully satisfy the needs of both Vyksa Steel Works and Almetyevsk Pipe Plant in rolled steel products for the manufacture of pipes of small and medium diameters.
