The Russian pipe producing company United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has announced the production results of its subsidiaries Tatarstan-based Almetyevsk Pipe Plant (ATZ), Nizhni Novgorod-based pipe producer Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa) and Perm region-based Gubakha Coke for the first quarter of 2009.
Accordingly, in Q1 2009 ATZ's total pipe production amounted to 26,562 mt - up 16 percent compared to Q4 2008, while its shipments amounted to 31,041 mt, showing a 29 percent increase compared to the fourth quarter of last year.
In January-March 2009, Vyksa produced 352,335 mt of pipes, including 237,986 mt of large diameter pipes - up 34.7 percent year on year.
In Q1 2009, Gubakha Coke's production of coke amounted to 51,700 mt - down 73,000 mt year on year due to the decrease in demand.
