Russia-based pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has stated that it has shipped its first batch of pipes from Rostov-on-Don to the Bulgarian port of Burgas last weekend. The pipes will be used to construct the first branch of the South Stream gas pipeline's offshore segment.

OMK will deliver over 600 km of pipes, or 35 percent of the total length, to construct the first and second branches of South Stream's offshore segment. The pipes, which are 813 mm in diameter and have wall thickness of 39 mm, are manufactured according to the DNV-OSF101 (2010) standard and South Stream Transport's technical requirements.
