OMK begins renovation in Chusovoi

A new 800,000/ty EAF will be constructed when renovation begins on Russia's United Metallurgical Company (OMK) steel works. The renovation on operations will be done in Chusovoi, west of the Urals due to its availability of pig iron, company sources report. The project, worth $91 million will take about three years and also include a ladle furnace, vacuum unit and continuous caster. As a result, additional tons of steel will be supplied for wheel production, seamless pipes and merchant bar.
