The Russian pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK) and Gazprom have approved a joint scientific and technological cooperation program for 2007-2009.
The main objective of the program is to master the production at OMK of import substitutes and new types of pipes, and also of pipe fittings of advanced technical quality, in order to meet Gazprom's requirements.
In the framework of the program, specialists from both companies will focus on the improvement of production of large diameter pipes for undersea gas pipelines, the installation of gas pipelines in seismic zones, as well as the production of hydrogen sulphide-resistant and corrosion-resistant pipes.
