OECD annual inflation rate stable at 0.8 percent in April

The annual inflation rate of the 34 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries remained stable at 0.8 percent in April this year, compared to the previous month, according to the latest figures. 

The inflation in food prices decreased to 0.4 percent in April from 0.7 percent in the previous month, while energy prices fell by 7.8 percent compared to March.

Compared with the same month of 2015, annual inflation decreased -0.3 percent in April in Japan, following the year-on-year rate of -0.1 percent recorded in March. In April, in Canada annual inflation rose to 1.7 percent from 1.3 percent in March. In Germany annual inflation decreased to -0.1 percent compared to 0.3 percent recorded in March, while the UK annual inflation fell to 0.3 percent compared to 0.5 percent in the previous month. Meanwhile, in April in France annual inflation was down to -0.2 percent from -0.1 percent in March, while in Italy annual inflation decreased to -0.5 percent compared to -0.2 percent recorded in the previous month.
