Nucor welcomes ITC decision on HR steel imports

Charlotte, North Carolina-based steel producer Nucor Corporation, according to a company release, welcomed the decision of the US International Trade Commission (ITC) to extend the antidumping and countervailing duty orders and the suspension agreement covering imports of hot-rolled flat-rolled carbon-quality steel products imported from Brazil, Japan and Russia. Nucor officials explained that the duties would strengthen the domestic industry and have a positive effect on the US hot rolled steel market. "The orders on Brazil and Japan, and the suspension agreement covering imports from Russia, continue to play a major role in helping the U.S. hot- rolled steel industry to consolidate and become consistently profitable," said Dan DiMicco, Nucor's Vice Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
