Nizhnytagil Iron and Steel Works (NTMK), a part of the Russian iron ore and steel producer Evraz Group, has started modernization work at its round billet processing line.
During the modernization, NTMK will install new equipment at the line that will allow it to process round billets of up to 12 meters in length - for which there is strong demand from Russian domestic pipe producers - and in general increase the quality of its production.
In addition, with the completion of the modernization work, the capacity of the round billet processing line will be increased by three times to 25 metric tons an hour. Moreover, NTMK will be able to process round billets from different grades of steel at its line, including alloy steel, after the modernization.
