North American Stainless casts its first billet

North American Stainless (NAS) cast its first billet in Carrollton, Kentucky, on March 14, 2005, company sources report. The addition of the billet caster means that NAS now has a fully integrated manufacturing process for long products. The billet caster, installed by Danieli, is capable of producing square billets from 6.5 to 8.0 inches thick. Such capabilities will allow NAS to increase the size of its wire rod coils and produce bars up to 4 inches in diameter.
