No paradise found in Milton Steel strike deadlock
After more than a month of negotiations, workers at Milton, Pennsylvanias Milton Steel went on strike Sunday evening. Management and administrative staff have reported for work but the plants 99 union employees continue to picket. Union representatives have said that no one has attempted to cross the picket line and the company has not made any effort to contact the union since the strike began. There appears to be no end in sight for the strike, which stems from a dispute over a change in health care benefits. Under the old plan, workers were responsible only for minor co-pays on medicine. The new plan would require co-pays on hospital and doctor visits as well as deductibles. Milton Steel, established in 1929, fabricates structural steel for buildings, bridges, above-ground fuel storage tanks and pallet storage racks for distribution centers and warehouses. It has made it known that their most recent offer to the union is their best and final offer. No paradise found in Milton Steel strike deadlock
