NMDC’s Chhattisgarh plant to start production in mid-2017

Indian state-owned miner National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has stated that it expects to start production at its 3 million mt per year capacity steel plant in Chhattisgarh by the middle of 2017, according to Indian news agency Press Trust of India (PTI). The construction of the plant will be completed in December 2016. 

The capacity utilization of the plant will be approximately 60 percent for the first year and will rise gradually to 100 percent over a period of time.

According to the company, the Chhattisgarh government has allotted a mine to NMDC for the steel plant, while the iron ore will be supplied to the plant at market price.
