Russian steelmaker NLMK has announced that its subsidiary VIZ-Stal, a leading global producer of cold rolled electrical steel, has completed the construction of a new reversing cold rolling mill with an annual capacity of approximately 75,000 mt.

The mill will be commissioned as a part of a program aimed at mastering production of grain-oriented electrical steel with high permeability. The planned production capacity of high-permeability transformer steel may reach approximately 70,000 mt per year.

The estimated cost of the construction project is approximately RUR 1.4 billion ($45.6 million). The mill supplied by the German company Andritz-Sundwig will be fully ramped up in the first half of 2013.
