NLMK temporarily suspends operations at its Verona plant

Russian steelmaking group NLMK has started to suspend operations at its assets based abroad as a result of the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

According to the statement released on March 25, NLMK said it has decided to stop production at its plant in Verona in northern Italy. The asset, capable of 450,000 mt of plate production per year and employing 260 workers, will be shut down for at least two weeks until further notice.

Other EU-based assets of NLMK group, located in Belgium, France and Denmark, remain operational for now but with measures being implemented to prevent the spread of the virus, the official notice reads.
