NLMK Lipetsk raises share of in-house power generation to 59 percent

Russian steelmaker NLMK Group has announced that it has started the hot testing of its new turbine generator unit No. 5 at its Cogeneration Plant in Lipetsk. Once commissioned the new generator will improve the reliability of the energy supply, reduce operating costs for electricity and heat generation by three percent and increase the share of in-house power generation from 53 percent to 59 percent of total energy consumption.

The project was launched in the second quarter of 2016 and the unit is expected to reach design capacity in the current month. The total investment in the project exceeded RUB 1.8 billion ($31.49 million).
