NINL plans long steel production

Indian Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd (NINL) ordered a BOF meltshop with 110 ton LD converter from German SMS Demag AG to begin long steel production. The company has also ordered a six-strand billet caster and ladle treatment station from the Swiss Concast AG, another company of the SMS group. SMS Demag's supply includes a converter vessel, trunnion ring, lamella suspension system plus a converter tilt drive unit. SMS Demag will also supply the complete dedusting system plus electrical equipment and automation system for the meltshop. SMS Demag will be responsible for the project management of the overall facility. The billet caster will be rated for an annual production of 917,000 tons. The billet dimensions are 100 x 150mm. Commissioning is scheduled for the spring of 2008.
