New Zealand may extend AD duty against reinforcing steel from Thailand

New Zealand may extend its antidumping duty on imports of reinforcing steel from Thailand after receiving a request from New Zealand's largest building materials maker, Fletcher Building Ltd, which produces reinforcing steel at its Pacific Steel plant in Auckland.

Accordingly, the New Zealand government will begin a formal review of the duty, which was effective from March 2004, expiring on March 5, 2009.

Fletcher has provided positive evidence of a likely recurrence of material injury, specifically that Thailand has exported reinforcing steel to other countries at prices below the cost of production.
