New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey up 42.2 percent in January

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in January this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey increased by 42.2 percent year on year to 94,540 units and were up by 48.8 percent on month-on-month basis.

New passenger car registrations in January totaled 66,001 units, rising by 58 percent as compared to December and up 48.6 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 69.8 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.

On the other hand, new small truck registrations in January increased by 98.9 percent month on month and were up 33.1 percent year on year, amounting to 15,522 units. Small truck registrations constituted 16.4 percent of total new registrations in January.
