New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey down 42.5 percent in May

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey decreased by 42.5 percent year on year to 57,757 units and were up by 6.3 percent on month-on-month basis.

New passenger car registrations in May totaled 27,136 units, falling by 9.3 percent as compared to April and decreasing by 51.3 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 47 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.

On the other hand, new small truck registrations in May amounted to 6,172 units, up by 0.5 percent month on month and down 55.8 percent year on year. Small truck registrations constituted 11.3 percent of total new registrations in May.
