New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey down 42.2 percent in August

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey decreased by 42.2 percent month on month to 39,110 units and were down by 38.7 percent year on year.

New passenger car registrations in August totaled 19,463 units, decreasing by 49.4 percent as compared to July and by 47.1 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 49.8 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.

On the other hand, new small truck registrations in August amounted to 3,640 units, down by 40 percent month on month and 46.2 percent year on year. Small truck registrations constituted 9.3 percent of total new registrations in August.
