New import tariffs by Chile for HRC and WR imports

Following the safeguard measures announced in the US, the Chilean steel makers CAP and Gerdau Aza had asked the authorities to impose safeguard measures against steel imports in Chile as well. Consequently the Chilean authorities have announced new tariffs on hot rolled coil and wire rod imports, market sources report. The new tariffs will be 10% on both products and remain in effect for one year.
