NBS: Local Chinese rebar prices up one percent in early May

In early May (May 1-10) this year, the average price in China of 16-25 mm HRB 400 rebar increased by RMB 36.8/mt ($5.2/mt) or 1.0 percent to RMB 3,587.5/mt ($505.6/mt), compared to prices in late April (April 21-30), as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics.

In the given period, prices of wire rod, medium plate, hot rolled coil (HRC) and angles rose by 0.9 percent, 0.6 percent, 2.0 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively, though prices of seamless steel pipes decreased by 1.2 percent, all compared to late April.
