NBS: China’s crude steel output up 12.9 percent in January-February

In the January-February period this year, China produced 144.75 million mt of pig iron, up 6.4 percent year on year, with the year-on-year growth 1.0 percentage point faster than that  recorded in December last year, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on March 15.

Also, China’s crude steel and finished steel outputs totaled 174.99 million mt and 209.53 million mt in the first two months this year, up 12.9 percent and 23.6 percent year on year, respectively, with the year-on-year increases 5.2 percentage points and 10.8 percentage points faster than those recorded in December, signaling steelmakers’ willingness to produce in the given period.
