NBS: China’s crude steel output up 10.2 percent in January-May

In the January-May period this year, China produced 335.35 million mt of pig iron, up 8.9 percent year on year, while also producing 404.88 million mt of crude steel and 480.36 million mt of finished steel, rising by 10.2 percent and 11.2 percent year on year, respectively, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on June 14. 

In May alone, China produced 72.19 million mt of pig iron, up 6.6 percent year on year, while also producing 89.09 million mt of crude steel and 107.40 million mt of finished steel, increasing by 10.0 percent and 11.5 percent year on year, respectively.
