China’s new energy vehicle sales will continue their rapid growth in 2019 and are expected to total 1.60 million units for the given year, according to China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC). The The MOC stated that the technical progress resulting in reduced battery costs and the greater willingness of consumers to accept the new energy vehicles have contributed to rapid growth in sales of the vehicles.

According to the data issued by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) previously, in the January-November period of last year China’s new energy vehicle output amounted to 1.054 units, up 63.6 percent on year-on-year basis, including 807,000 pure electric passenger cars, rising by 50.3 percent, and 247,000 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, up 130.3 percent year on year, respectively.
