Moldavian Metallurgical Plant (MMZ) has released its production results for the first eight months of 2008.

Accordingly, during January-August the mill produced 662,515 mt of crude steel and 613,154 mt of rolled steel products, exceeding its production targets for the period in question by 5,727 mt and 6,438 mt respectively.

The mill's first eight months' sales amounted to 614,023 mt of steel products, of which sales to non-CIS countries amounted to 300,126 mt, reaching 313,897 mt for CIS countries. Moreover, during the period in question MMZ exported 19,462 mt of commercial billet.

Currently, MMZ is preparing its winter stock of scrap. The biggest part of the scrap supply is still expected to be received from Kazakhstan, which is to deliver in September about 75,000 mt. On September 4, MMZ's reserves of metal charge amounted to 79,341 mt, which makes the company self-sufficient in raw materials and other additional materials for the current month.
