The Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has released its production results for the first quarter of 2007.
During the given period, the mill recorded an 8.9 percent increase in its crude steel production to 3.145 million metric tons, a 7.8 percent increase in its finished steel products output to 3.053 million metric tons. However, MMK saw an 8.5 percent decrease in its agglomerate production and a six percent decrease in its pig iron production year on year to 2.5 million metric tons and to 2.3 million metric tons respectively. In Q1 of 2007, in line with the company's targets, MMK continued to decrease the share occupied by export deliveries in its sales, with a decline to 36.1 percent.
In March alone, MMK produced 834,400 metric tons of agglomerate, 430,300 metric tons of coke, 773,700 metric tons of pig iron, 1.06 million metric tons of crude steel and 1.042 million metric tons of finished steel products.
