MMK looking at possibilities of expansion

Major Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has disclosed to SteelOrbis that it is looking to expand into foreign markets by buying or building flats production facilities. In an interview with SteelOrbis, MMK identified Turkey as a possible target for the Russian steel giant's expansion. As the plant's representative put it, Turkey is a very attractive market since its domestic flats producers cannot satisfy the market's needs in flat rolled products. Building a plant or acquiring rolling facilities in Turkey will help MMK to increase its presence in the county's flats market. However, MMK has strongly emphasized that it is too early to speak about any particular projects or possible locations.
