Mr. Viktor Rashnikov, owner of Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), has announced that the company is currently considering the possibility of building an automobile sheet producing mill in the USA state of Ohio.

However, in comments made to SteelOrbis, MMK spokesperson Ms. Elena Azovtseva stated that it would be premature to speak about the construction of the mill and about the mill's details in terms of definite fact.

Nevertheless, the information concerning MMK's intentions has also been confirmed by Lieutenant Governor of Ohio, Mr. Lee Fisher, who visited MMK last week to discuss a potential major partnership and investment plans between MMK and the State of Ohio.

Mr. Fisher said that the negotiations are sensitive and that the State of Ohio is seeking to honor its commitments made to the company regarding confidentiality.
