Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) has announced that it has received a successful supervisory audit of its environmental management system by meeting the requirements of a new version of the international standard ISO 14001.
According to MMK’s statement, following the assessment, specialists representing the Germany-based international certification body TÜV NORD CERT confirmed that the system entirely meets the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard and shows a decrease in the technogenic impact on the surrounding environment. 13 subdivisions of the plant participated in the audit, including the departments of the mining, coke and by-product shops, the departments of the chief metallurgist, the chief distributor, and the chief power engineer, the department of railway transport, as well as functional structural departments.
