Mittal Steel SA to increase its market share in SA

Mittal Steel SA announced plans to increase its South African market share via capacity expansion and production of branded products. Mittal Steel SA, formally known as Ispat Iscor, intends to up its annual production capacity by 2 million tons to reach 8.5 million tons by the end of 2007. Mittal officials expressed that they will mainly focus on the African market. The officials, however, did not disclose details about how much of the additional production would be sold in Africa and how much would be exported. In addition to the capacity expansion, the company will also begin branding its products.
