Mittal SA decides against price hike

Mittal Steel SA announced yesterday that it will not increase its May-June flat and long product prices this year. The company has recently been under pressure to reduce its domestic prices. Mittal SA has been engaged in talks with South Africa's Department of Trade and Industry about the issue for quite some long time. Company officials disclosed Mittal SA would keep their prices steady despite the weakening of Rand and the global rise in steel prices. The company reduced its prices by 4-8% in February, when the Rand was strong and international steel prices were stable.
