Mining investments in Peru increase in January-July period

Mining investments in Peru in the January-July period reached $3.01 billion, according to the local ministry of mines and energy (Minem).

The $3.01 billion investment figure represents a 24.5 percent increase over the same seven-month period of 2018.

Minem said the development and preparation, plant beneficiation and mining equipment were among the sectors that received the most investments or about 61 percent the total mining investments in the January-July period.

According to Minem, investments in the Peruvian mining sector in July totaled $479 million, 15.9 percent up, year-on-year.
