Metallurgical mini-, micro- and nano-plants may claim about 40 percent of the Russian steel market in the near future, Russia's Metal Supply and Sales magazine has reported.

About 10 mini-plant construction projects for a total of 3 million mt of steel production capacity are current under discussion or being realized to date.

Potential business owners fear that even today in the Russian market steel supply exceeds demand by 6 million mt, and that in the near future competition in the market will tighten. One of the ways to optimize mini-metallurgy is to create a network of companies that have in their composition some mini-mills, scrap metal bases and metal service centers.
