Mexican manganese and ferroalloys producer Minera Autlan signed a 15-year purchase power agreement (PPA) with IEnova to buy solar electricity at a fixed price, the manganese producer said on Monday.

Electricity is one of Minera Autlan’s key costs, the company said, but it did not specify how much it would pay to buy solar electricity from IEnova, a Mexico-based utilities firm. However, Minera Autlan expects to further reduce costs with the long-term PPA deal.

IEnova did not release details about which plant or plants will provide Minera Autlan with solar electricity. A Mexican media noted IEnova could either use its Rumorosa Solar or Tepezala II plants, located in Baja California and Aguascalientes areas, respectively.
