The activity of Mexican economy decreased 0.34 percent in December, month-on-month, as a result of a reduction in two of the three indicators that make the IGAE index, according to data from the nation’s Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
Primary activities of the economy registered a 5.6 percent increase in the last month of the year, but the other two components, secondary and tertiary activities, fell by 0.3 and 0.3 percent, respectively, INEGI said.
Among the sectors that integrate the secondary activities is the manufacturing industry, whose activity level decreased 1.64 percent in December.
According to INEGI, the IGAE index had registered two consecutive increases since October. The index rose 0.64 percent in October and 0.55 percent in November.
