Mexico’s AHMSA posts net loss in Q1

Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) managed to diminish its net loss MXN 163 million ($8.66 million) in Q1 this year, compared to a net loss of MXN 595.4 million ($31.65 million) in Q1 2016.
 
AHMSA said net revenues in Q1 rose 28.6 percent, year-on-year, to MXN 12.8 billion ($680.1 million), while EBITDA in the same period improved 80.5 percent, year-on-year, to MXN 979 million ($52.02 million).
 
The company’s steel sales volumes in Q1 totaled 855,657 mt, 13.6 percent down, year-on-year, due to the company’s one-month maintenance program performed at its hot rolling mill.
