Mexico’s AHMSA posts MXN 161 million net loss in Q2

Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) managed to diminish its net loss from MXN 808 million ($45.2 million) in Q2 2016 to MXN 161 million ($9.01 million) in Q2 this year, the company said while releasing its quarterly results.

The local steelmaker said net revenues in Q2 rose 17.3 percent, year-on-year, to MXN 13.9 billion ($778.2 million).

AHMSA said steel sales volumes declined to 928,000 mt in Q2 from 1.1 million mt in the same quarter of the year prior, due to scheduled equipment maintenance.

AHMSA said EBITDA in Q2 was MXN 1.1 billion ($615.9 million), 9.04 percent down, year-on-year.
