Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) commenced maintenance at its hot rolling strip production line, located at its steelworks No. 1, the company said late this week.
AHMSA said it will invest MXN 87 million ($4.6 million) to repair the equipment during the 12-day maintenance period. Maintenance will cover slab re-heating furnaces No. 3 and No. 4, and repairs at rolling mill engines.
AHMSA will employ about 1,000 people in the project, including both company’s own employees and third-party companies including Garcia Medina Construcciones, Ociem, Consorcio Total, IMHP, Mecanica de Valvulas y Tubos, Aceroteca Mexico, HML, SB Asesores en Construccion, Cotse, Adimpa, Majoma, Genesis, LZ Corp, Cramsa, and Cahesa, among others.
