Mexico is threatening to impose further import tariffs on the US as it seeks exemption from the latter’s Section 232 tariffs, according to a report by Reuters.

Mexican deputy economy minister Luz Maria de la Mora told Reuters that within two months Mexico will have a new list of US products to be subject to import duty if the US does not remove steel and aluminum tariffs.

The deputy economy minister said that the value of the goods in the new list will amount to $2.7 billion, equivalent to the estimated damage caused by the Section 232 tariffs.
