Mexico is reportedly one step from closing a trade deal with the European Union (EU), according to a media report from Milenio.

The nation’s foreign relations secretary, Luis Videgaray, said Mexico’s ongoing negotiations with the EU are nearing and end. “We’re very close to finishing the process, which started four years ago,” he said, adding that the deal could be inked as early as next week.

Mexico is not a top steel exporter to the EU, however, Mexico is one of EU’s top 6 flat steel importers, according to data from the European Steel Association.
