Mexico asks steelmakers to comment on expiring anti-dumping duties

Mexico’s economy secretariat, SE, asked local steelmakers to comment on expiring anti-dumping (AD) and countervailing duties (CVD), according to a notice published this week at the nation’s official gazette.

SE said interested parties have 25 days, effective from September 11, to comment on whether the duties had an impact in protecting the domestic industry.

Duties expiring include seamless pipe imports from China, which expire on November 14, 2018), and fall under HTS codes 7304.19.01, 7304.19.04, 7304.19.99, 7304.31.01, 7304.31.10, 7304.31.99, 7304.39.01, 7304.39.05 and 7304.39.99.

Imports of CRC from Russia and Russia and Kazakhstan, which expire on May 24, 2019, and fall under HTS codes 7209.16.01 and 7209.17.01, were also included in the list.

Other expiring duties are steel nails from China, whose AD duty expires on October 24, 2019, and fall under HTS code 7317.00.99 and Chinese imports of steel cables. Those expire on November 8, 2019, and fall under different HTS codes, including 7312.10.01, 7312.10.05, 7312.10.07 and 7312.10.99.
