Mexican exports of steel to the US in July rose 17 percent, year-on-year, to 312,236 mt, according to a media report.

Citing data from the US Census Bureau, the report stated that Mexican export revenues in the period diminished 13.93 percent, year-on-year, to $221.6 million, mainly due to the decline of global steel prices.

According to the US Census Bureau, the average price of Mexican steel exports in July to the US was $709.82/mt, 26.5 percent down, year-on-year, from $965.20/mt.

In July Mexico was the third largest steel exporter to the US, just behind Canada and Brazil, the first and second largest steel exporters to the North American country, respectively.

Mexican steel exports to the US soared 69.14 percent when compared to June, and 40.9 percent in value.
