Mexican industrial output declines in March

Mexican industrial production in March fell 4.9 percent, year-on-year, and 3.4 percent, month-on-month, statistics agency Inegi said on Tuesday.

Government data indicated Covid-19 impacted most businesses, both on a year-on-year as well as on a month-on-month basis.

Industrial production in the local civil construction and manufacturing segments in March fell 7 percent, and 6.4 percent, year-on-year, respectively. The only exception was the mining segment, whose industrial production in March rose 1.5 percent, year-on-year.

On the other hand, industrial output in the local mining segment in March fell 0.9 percent, month-on-month. Industrial production in the civil construction sector in March decreased 1.4 percent, month-on-month, and 4.8 percent for the manufacturing segment, also on a month-on-month basis.
