Mexican industrial output declines in January

Mexican industrial production in January declined 1.7 percent, year-on-year, but improved 0.3 percent, month-on-month, according to a report Friday from local statistics agency, Inegi.

Industrial output in the local mining segment in January rose 5.8 percent, year-on-year, and 4.5 percent, month-on-month.

Both the civil construction and manufacturing industry segments saw industrial production in January fall 9.2 percent, and 1 percent, year-on-year, respectively.

However, industrial output at the Mexican civil construction sector in January slightly improved 0.5 percent, month-on-month.

Likewise, industrial production in the Mexican manufacturing industry segment was up 0.1 percent, on a month-on-month basis.
