Mexican auto production up, but domestic sales down in August

Mexican auto production in August rose 0.4 percent, year-on-year, while domestic sales dropped 5.3 percent, year-on-year, according to data released by the nation’s statistics agency, Inegi.

Mexican auto production in August was 369,543 units, up from 368,155 units in August 2017. Domestic sales of autos in August reached 118,715 units, down from 125,331 units in the same month of the year prior.

As for the accumulated period from January to August, Mexican auto production reached 2.6 million units, 0.1 percent up, year-on-year. Mexican domestic sales of autos in the eight-month period fell 7.8 percent, year-on-year, to 913,726 units.
