Mexican auto production increases, while domestic sales decline in May

Mexican auto production in May rose 3.9 percent, year-on-year, according to data released on Tuesday by the country’s automotive industry association, AMIA.

AMIA said Mexican auto production in May totaled 352,860 units, up from 339,747 units in the same month of the year prior.

On the other hand, domestic sales of cars in May decreased nearly 7 percent, year-on-year, to 114,492 units, AMIA said.

As for the cumulative period of January to May this year, Mexican auto production slightly improved 0.6 percent, year-on-year, to 1.6 million units, while domestic sales in the same period fell 8.9 percent, year-on-year, to 560,986 units.
