Mexican auto production declines in March

Mexican automotive industry association, AMIA, said on Monday auto production in March declined 24.6 percent, year-on-year, to 261,805 units.

Domestic sales of vehicles in March reached 87,517 units, 25.5 percent down, year-on-year. Mexican exports of cars in March totaled 285,075 units, 11.9 percent down, year-on-year.

As for Q1, Mexican production of autos fell 8.5 percent, year-on-year, to 908,393 units. Mexican exports of vehicles in Q1 totaled 779,269 units, 6.9 percent down, year-on-year. Likewise, domestic sales of autos in Q1 dropped 10.9 percent, year-on-year, to 296,677 units.
