Belarus became the company's major steel plate consuming market, while Transcaucasia and Central Asia showed a significant demand for steel shapes and structurals. There was strong demand for rails in the Central Asian market, which led to a 330 percent year-on-year growth in these sales of these products to 53,000 mt.
"This year a considerable growth in volumes sold to CIS countries took place as we were able to significantly increase volumes of R65 rails sold to meet the demand of national railway authorities. Rails constituted a share of 40 percent in our total sales," Metinvest-Ukraine CEO Oleg Olshanskiy commented.
