The Ukrainian mining and steel producing company Metinvest Holding (Metinvest) has announced that in January-August this year its iron ore subsidiaries produced 24.207 million mt of iron ore concentrate - up 30 percent, and 8.42 million mt of pellets - up 17.3 percent, both compared to the same period last year.
Specifically, in January-August 2010, Metinvest's iron ore subsidiary Central GOK (CGOK) increased its iron ore concentrate output by 37 percent to 4.076 million mt and saw a small rise in its pellet production by 0.2 percent to 1.5 million mt, both compared to January-August 2009.
During the first eight months of the current year, Severniy GOK (SevGOK) produced 9.71 million mt of iron ore concentrate - up 11.2 percent year on year, and 6.9 million mt of pellets - up 21.8 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in January-August 2010, Metinvest's Inguletskiy GOK (InGOK) registered a 50.5 percent increase year on year in its iron ore concentrate production to 10.42 million mt.
