Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer based in Russia, has announced its operational results for the third quarter of the current year.
Accordingly, in the third quarter Metalloinvest's iron ore production increased by 0.9 percent quarter on quarter to 10.1 million mt. In the given quarter, Metalloinvest’s iron ore shipments increased by 5.3 percent quarter on quarter to 3.3 million mt following maintenance work carried out at the company’s plants.
Metalloinvest’s production of iron ore pellets in the third quarter amounted to 5.7 million mt, up 0.5 percent quarter on quarter, while HBI/DRI(direct reduced iron) output decreased by 6.5 percent quarter on quarter mostly due to scheduled maintenance work at Metalloinvest subsidiary LGOK’s HBI-1 Plant. In the third quarter, Metalloinvest’s HBI/DRI shipments decreased by 13.8 percent compared to the second quarter of this year.
Crude steel production in the given quarter was up 4.6 percent to 1.4 million mt , while pig iron output went down by 16.5 percent to 500,000 mt due to scheduled repair work at one of the blast furnaces at Ural Steel, both quarter on quarter.
